Making the world better through quality engineering

Welcome

to Quality Think Tank

Quality Think Tank is a portal for software and product quality experts to increase their understanding of the diverse collection of tools, methods, approaches and processes in an atmosphere of interaction and collaboration.

Whether you are an experienced Test or QA Enginner, a Project Manager, an SDET, or even an entry level Test Engineer, we believe you have something to share and something to learn. We welcome everything from articles on topics important to Quality Professionals to participation in the forum/messageboard. We hope you can find or contribute something here that can help you advance product quality, whether it be in your own company or in the world in general. The founder of the site is an expert in software quality, but encourages QA experts in other fields to join in.

Why Quality Think Tank, and Why This Site

A "Think Tank" is conceptually a group of people devoted to research in and exploration of some topic. The title often brings a smirk to the faces of those who hear it, perhaps envisioning a bunch of stuffy old men sitting around smoking cigars in a library textured in rich woods and elegant tapestries. On the contrary, in the case of QA or Test Engineers, we are hard working folks who have cluttered desks, multiple computer monitors, multiple computers, gizmoes, peripheries, and devices. We work so hard at solving problems all day long whether it be writing complex text code or reading through lines and lines of log files looking for evidence of some problem, that we often don't have time to sit down and think about the broader aspects of software quality at all.

This site is here to encourage us to do just that.

Software only becomes better through serious work to make it so. That work consists not only in testing, and fixing, but in planning, in exploration of methods and practices, in making every effort to improve. The field of Quality Assurance is all about improving, and that is the goal of this site. Better software thought sharing of ideas, practices, tools, and methodologies.

So, don't just settle for reading that one article which brought you here. Explore the forum and see if there is anything you can contribute.
